Ichabod has a lot of mental strength. He's incredibly intelligent, and very forward-thinking. Unfortunately, he doesn't really have the bravery to go with his intrusive mind. Or rather, he doesn't have the necessary disposition. He has been known to charge into dangerous and unknown situations, but his physical strength is not good. In gritty or frightening circumstances, he has been known to scream, to run, and to faint like a girl. He's also very squeamish. However, if someone else is in danger, he'll do his best to help them. He has a very strong sense of justice, and is actually a very sweet and good person. Even if he is a scaredy cat, gullible and rather naïve.

Ichabod is also rather shy, and embarrasses easily. He's very friendly, although he's not terribly good at socializing since he dedicates more time to study, and can be rude without intention. He doesn't work well with animals, especially horses (which he can't ride well). He tends to believe horror stories and myths incredibly easily, and it seems as though he is not a religious man, but a superstitious one. He's very bound by law and morals.

He also has a large appetite, and can sing well. He speaks in a rather poetic, old-fashioned way.

Ichabod Crane was born in Sussex, England on April 9th, 1993 to a Muggle father and a witch mother. His mother was a Muggle-born, and her wealthy parents had forced her to suppress her true identity as a witch. She never went to Hogwarts, and married Ichabod's father - a religious and superstitious Muggle - without telling him that she was capable of magic. When Ichabod was born, and began to exhibit small signs of power, his mother realised that he would be a wizard and confided in him about the magic in their blood. Ichabod's father was suspicious of her, and began to physically and verbally abuse her, claiming that he was trying to save her. He subjected her to cruel forms of exorcism, and as she had never learnt to harness her power, she was unable to defend herself. The memories of his father attacking his mother would haunt Ichabod in nightmares for years to come.

One night, Ichabod's father beat his wife worse than ever before, leaving her to "think about her actions" alone in the attic. The attic was where Ichabod's father spent most of his time, and had lots of books and antiques dedicated to Christianity and defeating demons (this room would also feature in Ichabod's nightmares). Ichabod found his mother bleeding to death, and she offered some last words of comfort before dying in front of him. Ichabod's father tried to dispose of the body, but he was caught and sentenced to life. Ichabod was passed over to his mother's cousin, an adult witch named Miranda, who prepared him for Hogwarts and raised him as a respectable upper class child.

Ichabod's acceptance into Hogwarts was a moment of great pride for him. Ichabod is happy with Miranda, but misses his mother and often studies with the thought that he it is for both his mother and himself. He excels in academia, but has always been terrible at flying and doesn't have much of a stomach for it (however, he still enjoys following Quidditch). His favourite subject is Defence Against the Dark Arts, and he wishes to become an Auror or a professor of that subject. His maternal grandparents shun him for being a wizard, and on the one occasion that he visited his father, the man accused Ichabod of being the Devil. For a long time, Ichabod nursed thoughts about breaking into the prison and killing his father in vengeance, but soon realised that it wasn't what his mother would want.

Miranda has a niece named Katrina, with whom Ichabod has always been infatuated, but has never acted on the feelings because Katrina is a distant relative.
